Bloukrans Bridge, South Africa

My group of friends are such a mixed bag of personalities......some love to just kick back and relax whilst others are absolute adrenaline junkies.....

Now we are going to see the Bloukrans Bridge (Afrikaans:Blue Ridges)...
It is an arch bridge located near Nature's Valley, Western Cape, South Africa that stands at a height of 216m above the Bloukrans River, making it the highest single span arch bridge in the world.

Its central span is 272m and the bridge is 451m in length in total. and its primary use is that of a road bridge......so what's the big deal??

Well, its also the site of the world's third highest commercially operated bungee jump, at 216m!!

Yep....This is the ultimate thrill! Let's go....

Ok, they have secured us in a full body harnesses....and we have taken the "foofie slide" to our jump site......oooooh, what an adrenaline rush!!!

This leads us to the top of the arch - 216 meters above the Bloukrans River!! Awesome!!! (Our adventure is not finished yet!)

Here we given final instructions by the staff, a countdown and off we go!
JUMP!!!!

Marti wants to know if there are any crocodiles in the Bloukrans River beneath us????
Martiii, we don't want to find out by falling in!!!

Bloukrans utilizes pendulum bungee technology so it was a really comfortable bungy jump.

Nopi simply refuses to do this...........ok, Nopi, why don't you try the Bridge Walking tour?

The tour guides will teach you about the incredible engineering feats that went into building this amazing bridge that is both the highest and largest bridge in Africa.
You will walk along a spectacular and specially designed catwalk to the top of the arch from where you look out over the Gorge to the mountains and the sea in the distance and you wont have to jump, I promise.

Nooooo, Nopi is not interested...her fear of heights simply wont allow her to....

Well, the adrenaline junkies had an absolute blast........this was an amazing jump!
