Day 3, Burma ( Myanmar)

We leave Nepal now for the largest country by geographical area in mainland Southeast Asia; Burma, officially the Union of Myanmar. Our tour guide here is my very dear friend Marc De Schinkel, who has travelled the world and allowed me to armchair travel with him always. Thank you Marc. Mwah.

Shwezigon was built as the most important reliquary shrine in Bagan, a centre of prayer and reflection for the new Theravada faith King Anawarahta had established in Bagan. The pagoda is standing between the village of Wetkyi-in and Nyaung U. It is a beautiful pagoda and was commenced by King Anawrahta but not completed until the reign of King Kyanzittha (1084-1113)

wish I could buy some rubies........but now have to leave this beautiful country.............
